FitBack network and Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance (AHKGA) are excited to announce an establishment of new long-term partnership to promote physical activity and healthy living among children and youth worldwide. FitBack network will provide its expertise in research, education, sport and health professionals, policymakers, and stakeholders, while AHKGA will contribute its network of experts and partners in the field of children's health, physical activity and their determinants. Their partnership was solidified through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on March 1st 2023, which outlined their joint commitment to promote physically active lifestyles in children through leadership, knowledge translation and mobilization, capacity building, and advocacy. Under the MOU, both organizations agreed to share information about each other on their websites and support the recruitment of international collaborators. They also committed to encourage joint activities such as grant applications, improving methodology for fitness surveillance, and data analyses/publications. First joint activity will be web-based conference on May 24 this year. More information on this will follow in next month.
One of the goals of the partnership will be also to improve the AHKGA Report Cards in the future by improving the grading of AHKGA Report Card indicators such as physical fitness. Additionally, collaboration should also improve the work of FitBack in the future by widening and deepening global discussions on fitness monitoring in children and adolescents. Thanks to their efforts, children and youth worldwide could live healthier and more active, developing their lifestyle for a brighter and healthier future.
More about Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance
The Active Healthy Kids Global Alliance (AHKGA) is a non-profit organization that advocates for children's physical activity and health. The organization was founded in 2014, and it has since grown to become a global network of researchers, health professionals, and advocates dedicated to promoting physical activity among children and youth.
The AHKGA brings together experts from around the world to develop and promote the Global Matrix, a report card that assesses the physical activity levels and health outcomes of children and youth in countries across the globe. The Global Matrix provides an evidence-based snapshot of the state of physical activity among children and youth worldwide, and it is used to inform policies and interventions aimed at increasing physical activity levels and improving health outcomes.
The AHKGA also provides a platform for researchers and advocates to share knowledge and best practices related to physical activity and health. The organization hosts an annual summit where members can come together to discuss current research, share ideas and collaborate on projects related to physical activity and health.
Overall, the AHKGA plays an important role in raising awareness about the importance of physical activity for children and youth, and in promoting evidence-based policies and interventions aimed at improving the health and well-being of future generations.
